The HW-1880M combines barcode scanning and optical character recognition (OCR) into a single, compact embedded module. It reads common 1D and 2D symbologies—including QR, PDF417, and MaxiCode—while also capturing OCR-A and OCR-B text strings from passports and ID cards. A high-resolution 1MP camera with a 90°+ wide-angle lens enables users to scan documents from unusually short distances: passport MRZ lines from 7cm and ID card MRZ lines from just 6cm. This close-range capability simplifies kiosk design and improves the user experience by eliminating the need to hold documents far from the reader.
